The December 7th meeting will be held through the video connection, which is also the second meeting between the two leaders since Biden took over the post of president.
On December 6th, an American administration official told reporters that President Biden would make it clear to Putin that if the Kremlin decides to invade Ukraine, then his administration would have “set very real costs”.
President Biden, before talking to Putin, has also talked to leaders of Britain, France, Germany and Italy. Through a statement, the White House said leaders have reiterated their support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and have called on Russia to stress the situation in the region.
According to Ukrainian officials, over 90,000 Russian troops are located near the Ukrainian border, including on the Crimea Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.
According to US intelligence estimates, around 175,000 Russian troops could achieve troop collection near the border. This is one of the largest Russian forces' movements towards Ukraine in recent years.
