Thus, according to numerous reports, they participated in a martial arts war.
As it becomes known, in September, former adviser Erinou da Silva, 45, publicly challenged Simão Peixto, 39-year-old conservative mayor of the Amazonian town of Borba, for a clash.
The two men had quarreled since Silva had named Peixotto a “fraud” on charges that he had failed to preserve a water park near the Madeira River, which passes through Borba, according to The Guardian.
Peixto eventually accepted the challenge, but said he would fight only in a proper match because he “was not a street fighter”.
“I'm not a street fighter... I'm mayor”, the politician said on his Facebook page last month. “ [But] if he really wants to fight... we're ready to fight... I've always been a winner”
The two men were finally placed in an MMA race, with the clash taking place as part of an event in a local school high school.
