Former Police Director: We never asked KFOR for shares in the North

Former Kosovo Police Director Rashit Qalaj has said they have never received permission from KFOR to develop shares anywhere in Kosovo's territory, even in the north. Qalaj said that while at the helm of the police, KFOR members have only been announced that an operation will be conducted.

Furthermore, he declared that the PK has since received permission from the European Union for these shares.

The Kosovo Police always make operational plans to implement the directives depending on which area it is in. We've had some operations at least that I was the director of law enforcement, court orders, and we've never after absolutely asked anyone. ...But when we started by operation we have especially notified KFOR members, just to be aware that an operation is under way. If Kosovo police repeat it, neither KFOR nor then do I believe either now or the European Union”, he has said.

The chief of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, has said during the day that no agreement in the dialogue, séia prohibits the Kosovo Police from deploying everywhere on state territory.

He has also spoken in some responses about developments in northern Kosovo months ago, suggesting that no dialogue agreement são Kosovo police bans deployment everywhere on state territory.

However, for the northern part, it says there is some tradition of reporting.

“There is no agreement in dialogue preventing the deployment of special police units from south to north, but that is a common policy of close co-ordination with the international community, as well as KFOR's preliminary announcement”, he said in Klan Kosova.
