Parliament approves Bill to send KSF abroad

The Kosovo Assembly, with 68 votes, has approved the draft bill for sending the Kosovo Security Force abroad in second review. All political parties part of the Kosovo Assembly have given support to this bill. MP Hisen Berisha's PDK, said that as a party, they will support this bill but that [...]

MP Hisen Berisha's PDK said that as a party they would support this bill, but that there has been a demand that all be cautious in terms of statements to include KSF in various international operations.

We need to be cautious about statements involving the Force in various international operations based on the operational capacities we have. I think that this law deserves to be passed because it intensifys the military's role in the country's foreign policy, a role that will lead Kosovo to line up wings of states that support peace in the world, but never by going beyond our operational capacities that we have to support this 34x1>, he said.

Even the Head of the Parliamentary Group The AAK, Besnik Tahiri, referred to a Kosovo prime minister's statement about sending the KSF in case of an outbreak of conflict in Ukraine, said they should be careful with public statements.

He said exactly, he said everything that NATO sees necessary, we're obviously ready, but what we as a Parliamentary Group want to get up on this subject is that before we see what you're looking for. NATO for KSF we must make our army NATO, to create conditions for our army NATO”, he said.

These statements have been reacted to by Defence Minister Armend Mehaj, who said participation in international operations has great significance for the KSF's entry into NATO.

As far as KSF membership in NATO is concerned, Mehe said they are fulfilling all capacities.

As far as participation in international operations is concerned, it also has great significance for NATO entry, that this is a point that many other countries before us have passed these phases and participated in international operations. Military diplomacy has enormous impact not only on the establishment of the Force, capacity building, but also the partnership link with NATO states and partner states, that it links military partnerships through participation in international operations. As for the straight path NATO we are in the process, all capacities we are fulfilling, we have a transition plan, and we are fulfilling it in co-operation with our partners, but here participation in international operations has great significance in Kosovo's influence on military diplomacy, but also in the participation of peace abroad, that we are no longer only security consumers but also export security abroad”, he said.

At today's session, the Assembly of Kosovo also adopted in principle the Bill on Strong Alcohol Drinks, where 60 votes were in favor of this bill, until there were four abstentions.

Agriculture Minister Faton Peci said this bill regulates the legal framework through general principles related to description, presentation and labelling of strong alcoholic beverages, as well as the protection of geographical indicators of strong alcoholic beverages.

Also, with 68 votes for, none against and no abstention, the Parliament has adopted the Agriculture and Rural Development Bill in principle.

In his reasoning, Minister Faton Peci said this bill is aimed at implementing targets that contain access to agriculture, empowering rule of law, easier and more efficient implementation of legislation in accordance with EU legislation and better international practices.

“This bill defines national policies for agriculture and rural development, agricultural policy planning and measures, measures for integrated agriculture, organic production, quality standards, and marketing standards, databases, monitoring and agricultural reporting. Institutional support for agriculture, administrative control, risk management measures in agriculture, restoration of agricultural production potential, social and economic partnership in the field of agriculture, as well as field inspection and implementation of measures”, he said.

Meanwhile, in the absence of the minister has been postponed for the upcoming session, the Bill on Change and Fulfilling the Law on Waste.

The approval of MPs has also been granted by the Pension Savings Fund for the adoption of annual taxes for 2022, where the investment tax will be 0.32 percent and operational tax of 0.057 per cent.
