From the presidency several days ago, Osmani has decided to boycott these Olympic Games held in China following the boycott by other democratic states, such as the US, Australia and Great Britain. “President Osmani backs the US decision to diplomatic boycott China. Like her counterparts from the US, Australia and Great Britain, president Osmani, the cause of human rights violations by Chinese authorities, will boycott the Beijing Winter Olympic Games”, Bekim Cupina, media adviser from the presidency, said.
But there has been an invitation being denied by the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.
In an interview for one of the Serbian media, they said no one from Kosovo has been invited to participate in the Olympic Games.
“We strongly oppose unprotested slander for the human rights situation in China”, the embassy said in a campaign for Kosovo Online.
The Chinese side has never invited them to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics, and no one in China is interested in the presence of local officials,” said the embassy, adding that the so-called boycott was a typical political maneuver and seriously damaged the Olympic spirit.
The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held from February 4th to February 2022, making China's capital the first city to ever host the Summer and Winter Olympics. / Metro
