The Netherlands has announced it will decide the extent of the isolation during Christmas due to concerns over the new version of the Coronavirus, Omitron.
The nuclear stores, schools, bars, restaurants and other public objects will be closed until at least mid-January. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the new measures were the inevitable “”.
These are the strictest measures any state has taken so far due to the new Omitron version.
States throughout Europe have exacerbated restrictions as Omitron, a highly mutationd version, is spreading to the continent.
The new regulations in the Netherlands, which will take effect Sunday, were taken after a meeting between the Dutch government and health experts.
“Handana once again is closing”, Rutte said during a media conference.
Experts say Omitron is expected to become a dominant version in the Netherlands during the period between Christmas and New Year.
For weeks there have been measures of limiting movement and closing cultural objects in order to curb the spread of the new version.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the National Institute for Public Health in the Netherlands has reported over 2.9 million cases of coronary and over 20,000 deaths.
