The company's owner, SpaceX, Elon Musk, has dismissed claims that his satellite project for internet services, Starlink, is taking many places in space.
“Ten billion” satellites can be placed in orbit near Earth, he said of the daily Financial Times.
His comments come after Joseph Ashbacher's claim, the leaders of the European Space Agency that Musk is creating rules” for the commercial industry in space.
China has complained this week that its space station has been forced to avoid clashes with Starlink satellites.
“Space is extremely large and satellites are very small”, Musk said during an interview.
Musk has not even accepted the suggestion that his project for internet services in space is preventing competitors from entering the satellite industry, saying there is room for everyone.
We're not in a position to block others. We're not blocking anybody, nor are we pretending to do so”, he said.
There's nothing. It's like a few thousand cars on Earth”, he added.
SpaceX has launched about 1,900 satellites in space, under the Starlink project, and plans to launch thousands more in the future.
