In two months, more than 150,000 cases of seasonal flu in Kosovo

The seasonal flu is an acute viral infection that is transmitted directly from one person to the next through eyebrows during coughing or sneezing.
According to IKSHPK officials, seasonal flu has not yet reached the epidemic threshold, but notes increased intensity of cases. The largest number of affected persons are aged 15 to 29, followed by children between the ages of 5 and 14.
Pristina leads with the largest number of cases, then Fushe Kosova, Podujevo and Lipjani
Florije Hyseni-Morina, a family doctor at Pristina's Main Family Medicine Centre, says the number of patients with seasonal flu symptoms has increased in a short period.
“Total of the number of patients expressed at percentage points ʹ has increased over the past two weeks by 50 percent more than in the stage when we didn't have the seasonal flu”, Hyseni-Mornia says, adding that patients are mostly young.
The symptoms of the seasonal flu, according to her, are temperature, nose flow, throat pain, coughing, and others.
Hyseni-Morina recommends that patients be fed healthyly, using more vitamins and doing physical activity.
Ramadan: A constant - flu vaccine necessary
Infectologist Hamdi Ramadani says that this flu can also be life - threatening, especially among chronically ill people.
He says these people should take the vaccine against seasonal flu.
According to the IKSHPK, the vaccine effect starts one to two weeks after receiving and protection continues about a year after the vaccine.
Kosovo's Health Ministry says sufficient amounts of anti-sonic flu vaccines have been secured and calls on citizens, especially those with chronic diseases and age to be vaccinated.
IK The KPS provides some recommendations for protection from this flu, which include wearing a mask, keeping distance with other people, as well as reducing visits to hospitalised family members and various clinics.
IK The KPS also suggests that in case of flu signs, not to go to work, school or places with many people.
Infectologist Ramadani says the seasonal flu has almost the same symptoms as coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.
There are many cases on the country level with the seasonal flu. This is expected in December, January and February. A certain number of citizens have had to take the flu vaccine, which had to be given in October of November”, Ramadani says.
Even IKSHPK health officials recommend the vaccine against seasonal flu for all older people, those with chronic diseases and those with weakened immunity
The vaccine against the seasonal flu in Kosovo has been under way since October.
He recommends that patients be tested for coronavirus when they suspect or have symptoms.
Unlike the situation with the seasonal flu, the one with the coronavirus is the quietest in Kosovo.
