The power distribution company in Kosovo (KEDS) announced that from today there will be power cuts nationwide as a result of low domestic production and high energy import prices.

The reductions have also affected Mitrovica, but in a photograph from the south of the city, northern Mitrovica is seen with light.

Local media there also reported on the matter.

And the government has blamed huge costs of electricity and energy crisis in the world. It has allocated 20m euros last week to import energy from abroad, but that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has complained that the price has increased there too.

News of the beginning of reductions in Kosovo has echoed even among world media.

Reuters news agency has written today that the state of 1.8 million people are now importing about 40 percent of the electricity needs. Energy consumption has increased, as in winter most consumers use it for heating.
