What message Escobar sent to Albanians today in Tirana, including those for Kosovo

Chief Democrat Lulzim Basha after meeting with him has suggested that with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, he had found agreement on the compatibility of Kosovo's territorial integrity.

The American support for the compatibility of Kosovo's territorial integrity has re-focused on Thursday in Tirana Gabriel Escobar, the US State Department's special envoy for the Balkans.

During a visit to Albania, where he met with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Foreign Minister Olta Jacka, Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha and other leaders, Escobar, accompanied by US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim, had discussions too, in addition to addressing current political issues in Albania.

Escobar at the conference after the meeting has focused on fighting corruption in Albania. He has said it should be a continued engagement of Albanian institutions.

I am very happy to be in Tirana, my first visit to Albania, and I have received a very warm welcome. I was also happy to be able to meet with the opposition, and they have expressed their commitment to NATO, European integration and fighting corruption. We are also glad that we are part of this, including our strong efforts against corruption, such as sanctions. But to turn this into reality, I will imply and seek a strong commitment from Albanian institutions. Kosovo and the importance of dialogue with Serbia has already been mentioned during the meeting that the American emissary has had with Prime Minister Edi Rama. Rama has written on Facebook that at this meeting they have also discussed the “Open Balkans”, which he called “transformation for the future of the region and which President Joe Biden's administration strongly supports”.

The 50-minute afternoon Escobar meeting has been held with Albania's top diplomat.
