The reason for the boycott is that the association has not been invited as a body to this meeting, while MAPL has invited only the mayors.
“Chiefs estimate that without the AKK we should not participate in this meeting since it is not the first time the central level acts this way”, AKK report said.
This meeting was expected to discuss the epidemiological situation in Kosovo, as well as possible new measures.

The Kosovo Communists Association (AKK) after consulting with mayors has decided to ask the Speakers of the Non-communals to attend the meeting invited by the Ministry of Management of Local Power (MAPL) for today at the 14.00 no. The reason is that the AKK as the representative and body of municipalities has not been invited to this meeting. MAPL only invited the mayors.
The exception for the Kosovo Communist Association is done with divisive purposes between the AKK and the mayors.
The mayors estimate that the unity of the mayors is necessary and that all mayors will remain united as local powers to preserve what has been built for more than two decades in the worthy representation of local governance towards the central level.
Mayors estimate that without the AKK, we should not participate in this meeting since it is not the first time the central level operates this way.
The Kosovo Communists Association is of the municipalities, and the ministries should view it as allies rather than ignore it. If the ministries ignore the AKK, they ignore Kosovo mayors and municipalities themselves.
It is noteworthy that, before a time, the AKK was arbitraryly removed from the anti-convict committee, as well as days earlier, the Kosovo Government approved compliance with the changes to the Law for Local Self-rule without consultations with the mayors.
We call on MAPL, ministries and government to stop ignoring the AKK as the representative of mayors and municipalities in the Republic of Kosovo.
