Poll results conducted by “Ipsos/ Sopra Steria” indicated that Pecresse will win 17 per cent of the vote in the first round, ten per cent more than in an October survey.
However, it still has far less support than the current president, who in the poll had the support of 25.5 percent of voters.
The two candidates who win the most votes in the first round of April 10th will face a run-off to be held 24 April, Reuters writes.
The extreme right media personality, Eric Semmour, known for statements against foreigners and who in some polls were second, this time suffered a 14.5 percent drop in support from 16 percent in October. The same fall suffered the next extreme right - Marine Le Pen.
Over 10,000 people on the Internet participated in the survey. The poll took place from December 7th to December 13th.
