Mayor Arifi thanked Prime Minister Kurti and Kosovo Government for budgeting 2m euros for the municipalities of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc.
“E have welcomed sharing of these tools even for the fact that for the first time we have become part of Kosovo's” budget, Arifi said, voicing hope that this amount will increase year after year.
At the meeting, they discussed the problems Albanian citizens are facing, and Arifi expressed concern about continuing their atonement from the civil registry.
There is a law in Serbia to settle citizens from the civil registry if they don't live in the addresses they have submitted, but this write-off or passive is happening selectively, and that's what Albanian citizens mostly suffer. For us this Serbian policy action presents a tendency to demographic change the Albanian majority municipalities”, Arifi said.
As Arifi expressed gratitude for the government's subsidy of specialists who so far were self-financed, Arifi stressed the problem of Serbia's non-recognition of the Kosovo Republic diplomas, which is failing to hire graduates and is promoting the migration of professionals to Western countries.
Prime Minister Kurti said that at meetings he had in Brussels with the Serbian side, but also at all meetings and international conferences, he repeatedly re-exerts that long-term peace, security and stability, reciprocity of minority rights must be implemented in the countries of the region.
“On the issue of diplomas, certificates, patent drivers and non-profits is insisting on Brussels, but Serbia continues to refuse to recognise the official documents of the Republic of Kosovo”, he said.
The prime minister stressed that the Kosovo government will always be open to co-operation and to help Albanian residents, and urged Albanian leaders to co-ordinate and co-ordinate political actions.
Kosovo Assembly deputies Hydet Hyseni and Avni Dehari attended the meeting, and the father of the murdered LVV activist Arben Geeladin, Shaban Xheladin.
The meeting with Nagip Arifi is the continuation of meetings Prime Minister Kurti holds with the political representatives of the Presevo Albanians, Medvedja and Bujanoc for maintaining good relations and boosting co-operation for advancing Albanian rights.
