He also mentioned tensions between the two countries yesterday, adding that dialogue is the path to stabilising the situation.
As far as Kosovo and Serbia are concerned, we have had many tensions over the summer. The situation is quieter lately. But the dialogue needs to be restored because there is no other way to stabilise the” situation, Borrell said, speaking to the media on the eve of the meeting.
Recently the obstacle in the dialogue was made to establish the Association of Serb majority municipalities in Kosovo. The aim of the dialogue is said to be to reach a comprehensive and legally binding agreement for both sides.
Lajcak's statements during Pristina visit
The European Union's envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, said on November 25th that there is room for progress within the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, until he stressed the strategic importance of this process for the entire European Union.
He said that during the visit to Kosovo, he has discussed a possible meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, whom the EU hopes will be held before the end of the year.
After meeting with Prime Minister Kurti, Lajcak said it is not only important that the meeting be established, but the result could be.
It's not about meeting, because leaders have met twice, but as you know there hasn't been any positive results. This time, our ambitions are different and it is not only about organising the meeting, but also about proving what the results will be, Lajcak said.
He added that the parties have expressed good will for the dialogue process and “we just need to make sure that the meeting produces results”.
