In this case, Prime Minister Kurti said that, like other states, Kosovo is being threatened by a new wave of COVID-19.
Kurti said there are four risks facing Kosovo over the coming weeks, including the arrival of fellow countrymen.
This growth of the population along with the many holiday events of the year is markedly enhanced by the possibility of super distribution. Second, the epidemic situation in Europe continues to be extremely serious, especially in some countries where large numbers of exiles live. Increasing the number of travelers increases the likelihood that the epidemiological situation is similar. Kosovo has lower vaccine rates than these European countries. And fourth, in recent days a new version of the Corona virus, Omitron, has emerged in South Africa. This version has spread to at least 38 countries in the world”, he said.
Kurti said that based on the epidemiological situation, measures will also be taken.
He said that if the threat to COVID-19 is eased, they will ease measures for fellow countrymen.
As prime minister, I have no more duty than to protect the lives and health of our citizens with all the means the government has available. For that reason, we have taken restrictive measures even within the country, considering the dangers. We are constantly reviewing the latest data on which we will update the measures whenever there is a complete need for the situation. At the first moment the risks soften and turn out to be less serious, the government will make the decision to ease restrictive measures”, he added.
