Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the chairman of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK), At and Hykoki met today to discuss bilateral co-operation between the government and BSPK for the protection and advancement of workers' rights in both the public and private sectors. Kurti remembers that she has not met with Beftman Jasharin, chief engineer of education workers, despite the latter's repeated request.
Kurti said he remains committed to empowering workers' rights and fully respecting the Labour Law through increasing inspection capacity. He also said the government is the main social partner for the protection, realisation and advancement of workers' rights and welfare. The meeting also discussed the Law of Salaries and the minimum wage, says the media communiqué.
As far as the Law of Salaries is concerned, Prime Minister Kurti said his primary goal would be to create transparency and equality in the public sector, as opposed to the preliminary one, which was abolished by the Constitutional Court, which except that it was weak law was also harmful because it was discriminated against and created inequality.
“We are now working intensively on drafting the new law that will provide a just and sustainable solution to the wage system in the public sector. By treating him with the necessary depth and care, without rushing, we are showing our responsibility in addressing this important law that has been missing for 22 years now, Prime Minister Kurti said. Regarding the minimum wage, he said that during his mandate, as he pledged to citizens and approved in the governing programme, it would amount to 250 euros. This, especially the demand for wage growth, should be considered that in addition to growth in productivity within the growth of our country's”, it is now said.
During the meeting, he also discussed other issues aimed at raising the well-being of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and in form having genuine and correct co-operation between Government and BSPK.
