Prime Minister Albin Kurti has written a message regarding the energy crisis facing the people. Kurt's message comes on the eve of the protest warned at 1: 00 a.m.
Full message:
Dear citizens,
Kosovo is also in an energy crisis. High import prices are the result of external factors, meanwhile, weakening capacity is the result of internal causes.
On the one hand, the price of energy on the stock market has been sevenfold: it was about 70 euros for me to meet under normal conditions, and on December 21st it reached up to 515 euros! On the other hand, not half of our consumption is covered by production: demand has reached historic .4. BE, and for the best opportunity (until we repair the B2 block with power of 255 Now our thermoelectrics generate as many as 650!
In this situation there is no good solution: either a reduction of energy, or a price of energy? Much earlier, Kosovo has had to think more and better so it does not end up in this bad situation.
There are two internal factors that have led us into this crisis. The lack of a vision of Kosovo's socio-economic development, with energy sector planning for sustainable supply and affordable prices, for both households and industry. Second, customary government corruption, which culminated in the privatisation of the distribution and supply network for only 26m euros.
During these two decades, different projects without long-term strategies could not fail. In 2022 we're going to have the national energy strategy for the next decade, and the trails to walk to 2050.
Me and Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli are in regular communication with KEK, COST and ZRE. With increased liquidity and import subvention, we have managed to stabilise supply and reductions have almost been removed.
We're doing everything we can. Thank you for your support and please for saving the rationalization of spending as much as you can.
Heartily,
Albin Kurti
