Meanwhile, some studies conducted in the world have suggested that the Omitron variant may be easier than Delta, which is currently a dominant variant in Kosovo.
Earlier in December, Kosovo sent over 70 positive samples for analysis to a laboratory in Germany to see if the Omitron variant was present.
This new version of COVID-19 was originally detected in South Africa in November. It has since spread to over 90 countries in the world.
Omitron is believed to be transmitted faster than the preliminary variants of COVID-19, but scientists have not yet determined whether it causes more serious illness or if it avoids the protection existing vaccines against coronary.
Omitron cases have also been recorded in countries in the region: Albania, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
