Kosovo- Albania Begins Work in 2024

He says the main focus of the two countries should be on implementing agreements reached at the collection of two governments held in Elbasan, where 13 agreements were signed.

We should stress that the Berlin process is the main pillar not only of Albania-Kosovo relations, but also of relations throughout the region. It is a process that started earlier, but on the other hand, as the international factor has been said, other initiatives that the countries of the region may have, but important is that there is an entire engagement in these initiatives. So once again, we're not going to go through this topic so much, but we have to see how the agreements between the two governments are being realised and I can happily say that this process has already begun to find the spirit of implementation”, Minxhozi has declared.

“Therefore we should not lose focus, we must deal with what we have defined at the last meeting held in Elbasan. And what I want to say is that the decisions of this meeting are of great importance, both for Albania and Kosovo in all directions. So we should not be distracted by the” focus, he said.

Minxhoy for construction of Durres Railway -Prizren said it would be a very important step for both countries' economy.

According to him, in 2023 the railway's design phase will begin so as to begin work on the new railway that will connect Albania with Kosovo.

Now one of the most important decisions of this meeting was for the railway. The railway that will connect Durres to Prizren is still looking where the road will be, does not mean that it will now take place on the road that is now on the way of the nation could have other areas. The feasibility study is very important and we think that this will be completed by this year. From then on, 2023 begins the design phase. And we think about starting work in 2024 on the new railway that will connect Albania with Kosovo. Meanwhile, both the Government of Albania and the Government of Kosovo are looking at the possibility of modernising the internal railway network”.

Kosovo becomes a very important railway transport centre then. Because this also has to do with the big project in Albania for the renovation of the port of Durres, which will then create opportunities for larger ships to come to the port of Durres that have built Kosovo and beyond. The important thing is that this project or this idea materializes within 2022 and 2023 re-exemplifies the project and then 2024 can find us with works started on both sides of the border. But within this period it requires fulfillment both in Albania and in Kosovo modernising the internal railway network”, he said.

According to him, following the passage of the pandemic phase, the possibility of moving unhindered to the border will be easier, the issue he says is working the ministry from both states.

“The possibility is being seen after this post-unclem phase, which has its problems, certificates to access vaccine doses. It's a process to be passed, and moving to the border will be much cheaper. Not just for people, but for goods as well. Several measures have been taken. The respective ministries of Albania and Kosovo are looking to draw up in detail how this process will be realised. So there's a process that has started, and it's going on, and I think 3-4 months from now, there's also going to be the right results”, he said.
