KEDS demand for electricity expensive, Z RRE gives clarification about the situation

KEDS's demand for a 7 per cent rise in electricity tariffs is expected to be answered by early February 2022%. Until then, Kosovars will continue to pay 6.75 cents per kilowat per hour. Details about the proposed expensive electricity procedure have been provided by ZREA. Warning that bill [...]

The warning that the electricity bill in Kosovo could be expensive for 7 percent in the coming months has led all citizens to turn their eyes on the Energy Regulatory Office.

Such a request has been addressed to this independent body by the Kosovo Power Distribution Company (KEDS).

“We have applied for extraordinary consideration of electricity tariffs. The demand is to raise electricity tariffs by 7 per cent”, KEDC spokesman Victor Buzhala has declared.

But to get answers to this request, The KEDS will have to wait.

The Energy Regulatory Office has told Gazeta Express that the decision to expensive or not electricity can be made at the beginning of February next year.

ZEREA spokeswoman Adelina Murtezaj said that two days ago they opened the process of extraordinary examination of electricity tariffs. According to procedures and deadlines, says the licensed ones have 20 days to hand in reports of financial impact and then the screening process will undergo public consultation.

“Z The RHR has opened the process of extraordinary review two days ago. According to the procedures and deadlines set out with the regulatory framework, after the extraordinary review is opened, the licensed within 20 days should hand over reports of financial impacts of these extraordinary events (where the description of the extraordinary event is made, the assessment of the costs for provision of services, the assessment of the projected income changes with adjusted tariffs, proves that it is passed on the material threshold set by regulations for the introductions, etc.), and then the process of review is subject to public consulting procedures and the schedule for completion of the process is early in February 20226, Murtz said.

Murtezaj says after handing over these reports, sir. The RREA will conduct detailed analysis of all data that will be delivered by pre-requisite requests and that then there will be a final decision.

Taking into account that the process was opened just two days ago, and as we have clarified even higher, it is not possible to predict now whether to change the price of electricity. License: OST/OT, OSSH and the Universal Service Supporter will submit reports of financial impacts on these extraordinary events in their revenues. Z The RRE will run detailed analysis of all data that will be submitted by pre-launchers for reevaluating Maksimal License (MAR) and then made final decision”, said in response.

But, still without costing electricity, some citizens have complained of increased bill prices in recent months, despite their similar spending of electricity.

For these complaints, sir. RREA has an answer and a suggestion.

“Taking into account that the tariffs for electricity are the same as those of past years, for the same consumed kilowatts should be the same fee. For any doubt of inaccuracy in their bills, consumers should seek clarification from KEDs and have the right then to file complaints even in the Z THREE, if they consider that KEDS has failed to examine their” complaint directly, Murtezaj's answers to Gazeta Express said.

Rizvanol warns extraordinary energy situation

For the state of electricity in the country, Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli has been declared yesterday.

It warned extraordinary power situations in the country.

Reporting to the Parliamentary Commission for Economics, Industry, Interventor and Trade, Rizvanolli said the situation is the result of high import prices.

“We have had a relatively good situation, since by the beginning of November we have relied mainly on our KEK generation capacities and these have enough to cover local demand. As expected with weather cooling and increased demand for electricity, import demand has increased. The price of electricity import is extremely high, is a state of emergency”, she said.

She said 12m euros have been earmarked for electricity imports this year, but those tools, according to her, have been spent in just two months.

“Z The RRE has opened the demand of extraordinary tariff reviews yesterday in line with legal obligations, since operators' expenses are much higher than anticipated. Import expenditures have reached 12 million for the November-December period, while it has been seen spending no more than 12 million for import” for the entire year, she said, during reporting on the Economy, Industry, Intervention and Trade Commission.

The economy ministry, meanwhile, is drafting the Energy Strategy for the period 2022-2031.

This strategy, according to the ministry, will analyse all potential and financially affordable scenarios to increase the stability of electricity supply, as well as provide the greater integration of renewable energy sources.

Government steps out on electricity savings manual

Because of the heavy situation, the Kosovo Government and other authorities, such as ZRRE and KED, have asked citizens to save electricity so it does not come to shortages.

The government has also come up with a manual for the job. The manual says that 40 percent of the electricity we consume comes from lighting.

And to save energy, the government calls for you to turn off the lights when you get out of the room, replace electrical tanks with those with high efficiency (LED), use natural light during the day, and set in efficiency sensors.

The most energy - consuming electric devices, such as laundry, iron, and iron, are also called for to be used between 22: 00 p.m. and 7: 00 p.m., when low tap is 57 percent cheaper than high fees.

At the end of the manual, it also requires that you use hot water rationally, not to leave electrical devices on when you do not use them, and to use fully filled vessels and laundry.
