Pandemia experts in Israel have recommended the fourth dose for health workers and persons over the age of 60. Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett welcomed the plan and told officials to prepare.
Israel confirmed its first death by the Omitron version on Tuesday. The Health Ministry has said there are at least 340 known cases of this version in the country, writes BBC, the newspaper Express records.
The decision to give the fourth dosage is still pending approval by senior health officials. However, Prime Minister Bennett's office told the BBC it is hoping to offer the fourth dose at least four months after taking the third dose.
Early in the vaccine, the process had developed rapidly, and much of the population had been vaccinated. Yet, only about 63 percent of the population have received two doses of the vaccine.
Israel has banned travel from several countries, including the United States, Germany, Italy and Canada, in an effort to combat the spread of the virus.
