Hysni Gucatt's defense has completed its opening statement during today's session.
Today's hearing is complete as the trial continues on Monday, December 6th, with the testimony of the first Gucati Defense Witness, where witnesses are personally presented, Hysni Gucati.
In this case, as witnesses, Nasim Haradinaj has also sought to appear as a witness to Haradinaj's defence.
Hysni Gucati and Nasim Haradinaj were arrested on 25 September 2020 in Pristina, Kosovo, and transferred to the DHSK detention unit, on 25 September and 26 September 2020 respectively.
The hearing of Haradinaj and Gucat's first appearance as suspects, before single judges, Nikola Giyu, was held on September 29, 2020 and October 1, 2020, respectively.
On December 11, 2020, Pre-Procedure Procedure Judge Nikola Giyu confirmed the indictment against the two indictees.
The hearings of Gucat's first presentation and Haradinaj were held on December 18th 2020 before the judges of the preliminary procedure, Nikola Giyu. Gucati pleaded innocent about all points of the indictment, while Haradinaj decided to enter a plea in connection with guilt or innocence within 30 days. In the further presentation, on January 8, 2021, Haradinaj was not declared in connection with guilt or innocence. Based on the rule 92.2) of the Order, the judge of the preliminary procedure made the statement on behalf of the accused that he is innocent.
On August 27, 2021, the Special Prosecutor's Office handed over the revised public version of the preliminary file. Gucatt's defence handed him over on September 2nd, while Haradinaj's defence handed over its preliminary <x0 temporary” on July 12th 2021.
On July 16, the judge of the preliminary procedure passed the case file to the Court II.
The preparation conference for the trial in the case was held on September 1st and 2nd, while the SPS Preparation Conference was held on September 8, 2021.
Judgment began on October 7, 2021. On November 10, 2021, the SPS closed its case.
On November 26th, 2021, the Judicial Chamber rejected the motions handed down by the two defence teams for dropping charges against the accused, according to the 130th Procedure and Testing Rule of the DHSK. The Defence Preparation Conference was held on 2 December, while the presentation of defence evidence began on 3 December 2021.
