And we're actually expecting recommendations from the research, but basically we're going to charge the plastic bags. The next option is to put paper bags and paper bags into the market for use, with which the citizen will be able to choose which one he wants to use. So citizens will start thinking more about environmental protection and I hope very much that their choices will be as friendly as possible with the” environment, Environment Deputy Minister Linda Cavdarbasha said.
MMPHI, with the aim of right management of waste especially for reducing plastic bags to a use and benefit recycling materials from plastic bags, has formed a working group where all interest parties are involved.
Cavdarbasa says that despite research/examination and recommendations released by the working group, secondary legislation concerning reducing one-use plastic bags will be changed and met.
The deputy minister also claims that, in advance, meetings have been held with the interest parties and have concluded that forming this sweeping group will help find a suitable and sustainable solution in terms of reducing plastic bags.
With the adoption of a complete waste law change, Administrative Guide to determine technical requirements and other requirements for plastic bags will be abolished, because according to the practice thus far it has not been applicable and has not produced any results”.
“It is no longer necessary for importers and plastic bags producers to use adigative to make bags biodegradable, because according to recent research and recommendations from the EU, their transformation into microplastics is even more harmful to land and biodiversity”, Cavdarbasha said.
