U.S. Government Closed, Congress Approves Funds

With 69 votes for only 28 cons, the US Senate supported the move approved earlier by the House of Representatives, and President Joe Biden is now expected to sign it, the BBC writes.
I am pleased that, in the end, the coldest heads triumphed”, said the majority leader in the Senate, Democrat Chuck Schumer.
This bill was passed just hours before the funds were suspended Friday. This would leave millions of public sector workers at the time of Christmas and New Year, while museums and parks would be closed.
A group of republican senators had threatened to undermine the funding bill in protest of President Beden's request for mandatory inoculation for workers of large companies.
However, their attempt to attach the bill to a amendment preventing the vaccine initiative was prevented by the Democrats.
The funding bill was adopted earlier Thursday by the House of Representatives, which is the lower house of Congress. However, its support was much closer by the 221st vote for 212th.
