As 63-year-old was moving from the crowd to the stage, a man picked him up before security officials intervened.
Local media have reported that his wrist has been hurt and that doctors have ordered him to take a nine-day break, the BBC reports, translates Periscopi.
Former journalist and analyst is known for his controversial views of immigrants and World War II.
After many weeks of speculation, Mr. Semmour had announced his candidacy for the 2022 French presidential election. He is challenging the famous leader of the far-right Marine Le Pen for leadership on this political side.
The incident in which Mr. Semmour was attacked was one of many collisions during the event.
