Asked why there are so many Albanians on the US blacklist, Escobar said that, “jo! In fact, you will see more! But in fact, that's the question we ask a lot of people. Why do we see Russians or Ukrainians or Serbs more targeted? But the truth is, we pursue corruption where it is. So this is an effort between agencies, an effort among many agencies, which includes the Treasury Department, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department, to understand where corruption is and to understand where the devastating influence is. And this is an institutional decision, not a political decision”, writes the Albanian Telegraph Agency.
That Escobar warning comes a few days after US sanctions imposed on the heads of organised crime in the north, Zvonko Veselinovic and Milan Radojic.
