Energy crisis, Kurti: We couldn't buy the electricity earlier, we're a poor people.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that there has been no way of buying electricity earlier to avoid an energy crisis because you can still contain the current in the refrigerator. We've been criticised for having had to buy electricity earlier but it wasn't possible because you can buy electricity and store it in the refrigerator you're very exposed to stock prices and there's no country in the region that is an exporter country all are importing. We've been hit hard because we're poorer than others because seven times more spend electricity in the relationship with industry”, Kurti said in an interview for the Voice of America.

Kosovo chief of executive said the current situation is not expected to end soon.

The energy crisis is not only in Kosovo, it's all over Europe, but it's hit us like a poor population that we are, but we're trying to make that through the subsidization of consumption on one side and the regulation of the B2 bloc to ease this situation a little bit. This situation could not be completed soon because these days the base load is 900 megawatts, while maximum spending reaches 1.4 ggavat, meanwhile, the entire production capacity if even the B2 bloc could not pass 900 megawatts production”, Kurti said.

Kurti has said that the electricity price Kosovo is importing is very high.

“We are obliged to import electricity, and we are doing it at beautiful expensive prices because the international stock market is hit hard by high gas prices. We subsidize consumption and we will help families that are poorer, but we have also urged that we rationalise spending”, he said.
