During the meeting for <x0VE Balkan”, beside Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Rama pledged that all farmers, exporters and importers would no longer wait on borders, and promised many facilities for their movement to Serbia and Northern Macedonia. According to the Albanian prime minister, there will be no more stress and headache.
“We are signing bilateral agreements today between Albania and Northern Macedonia and Albania and Serbia, marking a step forward in facilitating the movement of goods and people. In the field of human movement, we today sign the trilateral agreement, allowing our citizens to remain in our countries. We talk about concrete things and we are taking concrete steps forward to liberalise our labour markets, we need to open the region. In the area of freedom of movement of services today we have taken a first step, improving the interconnection, meaning opening the electronic services route for our citizens”, Rama said.
There's also a wide range of services where we have to cooperate. We must move towards mutual recognition of tourist operators. We need to deepen co-operation for free capital movement. We need to make further thinking changes to move from the cliche of competition to a common market. We've asked the EU to explore with us in several key areas where we have access to innovation, research, agriculture, trade, electronic services. We have been invited to the summit in Tirana to reactors and deans of our countries' University of Agriculture, so that they can create ties and co-operation. We have to start a network of high-level experts for realising open Balkan agreements and I demand that this network be supported by partners. I want to stress what the most important part of this initiative is. The Open Balkans serve to inject dynamism into regional co-operation, whether between us or six, within the common market. This co-operation is bilateral or trilateral, and the goal is fast implementation of market freedoms, for our countries to join the common EU market. Today, signing highly prepared agreements serves to deliver a very concrete message to people, especially to farmers, exporters, importers, who are already working in this common space. The message is that with these agreements, 2022 will be a new era, the beginning of something completely different for them, when it comes to going from point A to point D, and going across different boundaries. Based on what we will do, very soon at the start of the new year, they will no longer experience those headaches and stress of waiting on borders. Everything's gonna be fine. This connection will not only be for subjects that already operate, but also for others. This space will be even more dynamic... the circulation of human goods is already practical. I thank Alexander and Zoran and the others who have joined this table today”, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said.
