Large crossroad in dialogue: Kurti-Vucciq meeting seen as impossible for this year

Kosovo- Serbia has entered the crossroads. A summit within this year is seen as impossible. The major differences between the parties for achieving concrete results have also deterred the EU itself from insisting on progress, especially after the clashes to establish association. Presidential and parliamentary elections next year in Serbia [...]
The presidential and parliamentary elections next year in Serbia are expected to postpone dialogue for a longer term. Therefore, the opposition and connoisseurs of the dialogue process require greater inclusion of the Parliament in this process and reaching a consensus among parliamentary parties for dialogue.
Democratic League of Kosovo MP Rzazarta Krasniqi tells Kosovo Press that the Kurti government is not at all transparent about the dialogue process.
She says the Assembly should be more involved in this process, through reporting before and after each meeting in Brussels.
We as deputies have never been notified through the Assembly on the agenda of meetings (of dialogue) that we have received only through the media. As far as I know, Prime Minister Kurti will have a meeting with President Vuciq at the end of the month. I believe that before and after the meeting he will report to the Assembly... from the very beginning as the opposition we have requested, but so far he has not decided to report”, the opposition MP says.
Greater inter-institution co-ordination for the topic of dialogue requires Emir Abrashi from Democracy Plus. He tells Kosovo Press that dialogue has entered a blocking phase and sees no concrete moves until after the election's end in Serbia.
“For any new development in the dialogue, we should expect to complete the election cycle in Serbia. Since in the period we are in, the Serbian side will be unconstructive, not that it has ever been constructive, but that they are in pre-election campaigns and that in our Balkan region, nationalist and populist tones rise, I do not expect concrete developments in dialogue ... So far, no real co-ordination has been made between the Government and the opposition. We have not been following a civil society involvement in the dialogue process and without a national strategy in the dialogue process, and Kosovo's stance will be flawed at the table of discussion... so far Prime Minister Kurti has taken over these meetings, not reported in the country for developments in Brussels”, he says.
Based on recent developments in Brussels, international relations professor Arben Fetosti does not expect a meeting this month for dialogue, even though one had been warned.
The dialogue has long been at a crossroads. I am convinced that even the last meeting of the prime minister with Mr. Borrell in Brussels, within the framework of Samt for Stabilisation. - Association has proved that the parties are not even close. Since, there is no climate of belonging to a comprehensive and legally binding agreement that would normalise reports between Kosovo and Serbia. If we keep in mind recent developments, a quick summit cannot be expected. Much more so if we refer to the president of Serbia's continued positions regarding dialogue, as he has followed a destructive and constitutional approach. On the other hand, they only entered the election process in Serbia soon. I believe the dialogue will continue to remain at this level”, he says.
The last high-level meeting under the dialogue has been in July in Brussels. Since then, two times have met the delegations of the two sides at the technical level, but without reaching concrete results.
