What Chrisopher Hill will bring to the Balkans as American ambassador to Belgrade

Christopher Hill's name as the new United States ambassador to Belgrade is continuing to be commented on in various forms. Hill's statements, which are soon in Serbia as ambassador of the United States, clearly broadcast the American message to Western Balkan countries: that America is the best model [...]
Hill itself has issued statements regarding the situation in the Western Balkans, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina, translates N1 from Reuters, Periscope broadcast.
“Christopher Hill is bringing the stick and carrot to Serbia, say foreign policy commentators for N1.
It was an unusual event. The diplomat going to Serbia as ambassador was more questioned about the region in Senate than about the country (Serbia), where he goes as ambassador.
What did Hill say when he was asked about cases in the region?
We view Mr Milorad Dodik's movements as damaging to the whole country, and it is very important to talk about it with official Belgrade. We need to make it clear to them that our level of assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkan countries is very serious”, Christopher Hill said.
For foreign policy analyst Bosko Jaksic, this shows America is increasing pressure for the Western Balkans.
“By placing Holbrooke's right hand, the man who participated in the creation of the Dayton Agreement and also in the Rambouillet negotiations, America is showing that it will increase pressure in the Western Balkans”, says Jakshiqi for N1, It's Periscope.
The “what is happening in Bosnia, in particular in Republika Srpska, which is absolutely the bet of Russian influence in the Balkans, can turn bad for Belgrade if Belgrade continues to play passive role in this matter”, Jakspic says.
And meanwhile, Hill says America should show Serbia that it is a better alternative than Russia and China.
“We need to show Serbia that we are better model and that we are a better option than Russia and China. It's not enough to say that Russia and China should be avoided”, Hill said./Periscopi
