British Ambassador: Kosovo- Serbia in very difficult phase

Great Britain's Ambassador to Pristina, Nicholas Abbott, in an interview for portal “Kosev” has said the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is in a very difficult phase. British diplomat has said that neither party has a common vision about what dialogue represents. “And it [...]
And what is really needed is a kind of fundamental thought of what we're trying to achieve through this process”, Abbott said.
British diplomat has been asked what Kosovo is trying to achieve in the dialogue. Abbott says Kosovo's demands are very clear.
I think it's pretty clear. Pristina requires mutual recognition. They want the opportunity to be members of the United Nations, want to be recognised as an independent state”, he added further.
Meanwhile, when asked about Serbia's demands in the dialogue process, Abbott has said that perhaps it is better for him to speak to the British ambassador to Belgrade.
I think Belgrade has an even bigger challenge, because many things have to do with what future Serbia wants. My colleague in Belgrade is the one who really needs to answer this. For me, as I sit here, there are some really big questions about what Serbia wants with Kosovo, with the European Union, with the United Kingdom. Basically, this is what it's about”, it's Abbott.
The journalist has again insisted in response by reshaping the question and telling the ambassador that “what you think is the future of dialogue if Belgrade does not recognise Kosovo”.
“This is the future in which we can support a process that allows both countries, in our view, to continue and negotiate and reduce challenges, and the small and medium-sized problems they face, some natural friction that can occur between the two countries. As for the Kosovo Serbs, I think this is a real challenge, because it seems like what looks like a gray image continues. This could be the future. But there is another future, and it is that both sides and the European Union, with our support, are involved in what really needs to be done. It is true that they say we are already in 2021 and that it is not 2013. Okay, but what does this actually mean and what really matters and what needs to be treated?” has replied Abbott.
