United Kingdom Ambassador Alastair King-Smith spoke of this commitment in the region.
Alastair King-Smith stressed that there are many forces that want to undermine this stability of the region, and Britain seeks to reinforce stability.
I believe you know that the Western Balkans have always been important to the United Kingdom. Like when we were in the EU, even now that we're gone. This appointment is part of the strengthened commitment of the United Kingdom in the region. We see that there are important issues, not only for the Balkans, but also for the four countries here. Regional stability is essential, of course. There are many forces that want to undermine this stability in the region and we want to make sure that we are playing our role as hard as possible to reinforce it. We see with concern developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, how the Kosovo- Serbia is progressing as far as we wish. We wish we had a strong role. Such is the role of the noble messenger. Stuart Peach has a lot of experience. It was in Kosovo. There's a long story at the head of the army government”.
But why is Sir Stuart Peach chosen Has his past as a military influence?
“Precisely, there is military experience, but at a very high decision-making level. It was part of the Security Council as well as among NATO leaders. He has visited the region, Albania. He likes Albania and knows he is eager to visit with other countries soon. This appointment is only part of our reinforced commitment. The foreign secretary is personally engaged in the region. The Prime Minister has spoken to your prime minister. Foreign ministers have recently met in Riga and Stockholm for NATO and OSCE meetings. I hope we see increased engagements in the coming years”, the British ambassador said. / A2 CNN
