Borrell: Russian request to cut NATO's eastward expansion

“The requirements for security guarantees and the interruption of EU and NATO expansion to the East are a clean Russian agenda with completely unacceptable conditions, especially for Ukraine”, Borrell stressed.
He added that for the first time Moscow submits such written requests, something that has not happened so far, reports Atish.

By mid-December, Russia's Foreign Affairs Ministry published drafts of the deal with the US and the agreement with NATO.
The documents have already been submitted to Washington.
In one of the clauses, Moscow proposed that NATO countries provide guarantees to Russia, which would prevent further expansion towards the East, especially Ukrainian territory.
