Political analyst Behlul Beqaj believes that with a more active role in the United States, dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will become more constructive.
Beqaj says the agreements signed in Brussels dare not be overlooked, despite evidence that the European Union does not have much power to advance this process.
Europe is not actually a very reliable and serious partner to criticize others because it has more or less treated others with contempt. I think this criticism is based, because Albin Kurti behaves like the fate of Europe depends on Kosovo, not vice versa”, Beqaj has said of “Kosovo Online”.
Early this week, a media conference has been held in Brussels, in which European Union High Representative Josep Borrell has reacted to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statement on the Association of Serb-run municipalities, citing the Constitutional Court's ruling. Borrell said he disagrees with Kurt's statements and will continue to insist on implementing the agreements reached.
However, Beqaj expects the international community, especially the countries that support Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, to intensify diplomatic efforts to continue the process.
“Dialogue for the sake of dialogue has no intention, I think a radical course should reconsider the current way of negotiations, especially the position of the current prime minister in Kosovo. I think we're on the verge of reevaluating, where the situation is likely to improve, because we have a heavy diplomatic and military artillery from the main factors of the United States, Britain and Europe”, Beqaj said.
