The quake took place about 10 and 30 minutes in the morning on Tuesday, local time, in the Flores Sea. Officials said the quake affected the Eastern Nusa Tengara region, the BBC writes.
Thus far, no significant injuries or damage have been reported, but residents said that they have experienced severe quakes.
Social media videos showed people in Makassar City running out of shop buildings. There are reports that a hospital and hotel were evacuated.
