We are together for good and for evil, we are the first neighbor, for me brotherly peoples, and we must always be helped. This tragedy will reflect positively on relations between the two countries, because we are helped, institutions work together.
This is the order of people from both sides. We are here to help each other when it is difficult and to share joy when it is good, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said today at the joint press conference with Bulgarian interim prime minister Stefan Janev.
At first, Zaev expressed comfort for the loss of the two countries, suggesting that Bulgaria yesterday afternoon lost nine people from fire in an elderly house, while northern Macedonia lost 46 lives -- first of all -- in a terrible tragedy that happened to the bus disaster. It stressed that the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia will also think of the announcement of days of mourning for its 46 victims in the bus disaster, as well as that Bulgaria's government is considering declaring mourning days due to two tragic incidents.
Regarding the disaster, Zaev said he was directly informed by Stefan Janev, while he has also talked with President Rumen Radev, following what together with the ministers Bujar Osmani and Venko Philippe are immediately headed for Sofia.
“Co-operation is high. Trust in each other's institutions is great, and so we will better serve the citizens when we share all the information necessary to the disaster and how it happened. I would not comment on the causes, for experts should say all the details, only that's what is right”, Zaev said.
He also stressed that he has visited our seven fellow citizens at the hospital in Sofia, hinting that everyone is in good condition.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Stefan Janev stressed that tragedies are common and tragedies are what affect us and make people feel no different from the nationality of people who are not already with us.
“Today is a special day, the day Bulgarian people mark with two serious tragedies. Marked day with two major tragedies, last night's incident in the village of Rorik, where nine Bulgarian citizens lost their lives. Tragedy is still being investigated. The investigative bodies have to do the job. A few hours later, a new tragedy marked today's”, Janev said.
Regarding the bus disaster, Janev stressed that Bulgarian and North Macedonian authorities are working co-ordinated, stating that “from the investigation we hope to learn these lectures that will protect us from similar incidents in the future”.
