Doctors Cluj said the introduction of measures such as wearing masks could be of great help, the telegram broadcast.

The warning comes after some countries report record high levels of infection and set up complete and partial jams.

“COVID-19 has once again become the number one cause of mortality in our region”, he told the BBC, adding that “we know what to do to fight the disease.

He said mandatory vaccine measures should be seen as the last “resolution”, but we should have a “social interval” on the issue.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn has described the situation there as a <x0 national emergency” and refused to rule out another national stalemate. The United Kingdom recorded 44,242 new coronavirus cases.
