Cases of violence against children in Kosovo increase awareness of reporting

Because of many reasons many children in Kosovo suffer violence in one form or another from different spheres of life. For such a thing, the organisation “Vision Eye” has recently organised a sensationalisation campaign to protect children from violence.

The representative of this organisation, Naser Lajqi, has said that this campaign is aimed at awareness of the Government for implementing the Law on Child Protection in order to provide security to children.

The aim of this campaign is to promote the Children's Protection Law a year after entering power with particular emphasis on the prevention of bodily punishment, awareness and awareness of all citizens in preventing violence and bodily punishment against children. Government institutions take immediate action in implementing this law so that children can sense protection and security in any environment and rights guaranteed by the state. The campaign "Dunga has no Justification" has been carried out under the awareness campaign on preventing Trupor Punishment and Child Violence #Rrite MeDasni”, he said.

He has shown that two researchs are being carried out in the child's field of protection, where one has to do with functional mechanisms at the local level concerning prevention and reporting of violence and will be realised in Pec, Kline, Gjakova, Gjilan and Prizren.

Lajqi has shown that the second research involves monitoring the implementation of municipal regulation for the box of complaints in pre-university educational institutions in the municipalities Peja, Cline, Gjilan and Gjakova, as in recent years, education directors have helped draft municipal regulations for placing box complaints in schools.

In contrast, Lajqi added that in comparison with past years, increased awareness of children who report violence has been noted, thanks to boxes of complaints imposed in schools.

There are increased cases of reporting in schools where we work thanks to the box of complaints and functional mechanisms... meanwhile, there is a drop in cases of violence as responsible mechanisms have reacted over and over and over again to work, where this has impacted that then reduced cases of violence. Until there's been an analysis of violence against children at school and abroad, we can't say there's an increase in cases, but there's an increase in tests and contacts with institutions and children we can say freely that children's awareness has increased and confidence in existing mechanisms in school and abroad that they report cases of violence and therefore institutions are co-operative in dealing with violence cases and offering child services to victims of violence or fraud of violence”, he added further.

Bullism is a bad shadow phenomenon all over the world. According to various research is a global problem which is not least present even in Kosovo.

The one of the most pronounced phenomena is the lynx among peers that happens in schools or even through social networks. Psychological and emotional violence is also a highly reported phenomenon, while physical violence remains less present or reported by children in schools and families”, Lajqi concluded.
