At least 45 people, including 12 children, have died after a bus crashed and caught fire in western Bulgaria, officials say. The bus was reportedly registered to northern Macedonia and mainly transported passengers from that country.
The cause of impact and fire is being investigated. Seven people with burns were sent to Sofia hospital.
Temporary Prime Minister Stefan Yanev described the incident as “a major tragedy”.
Macedonian Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani said the bus was returning to the capital Skopje from a weekend vacation trip to the Turkish town of Istanbul, according to Reuters news agency.
