The tragedy occurred at the “AstroWorld” Festival, for which all tickets were sold, writes ABC13.
The worst part of the incident began about 9 and 15 minutes of the evening at local times, when crowds of about 50,000 people began moving toward the stage, according to fire commander in Houston, Samuel Peña.
The crowd began pressing towards the front of the scene and people started panicking”, he said.
The police command in Houston, Troy Finner, said the festival organisers suspended the organisation when it became clear that many people have been hurt.
The deadly incident occurred hours after a massive crowd of people passed the security perimeter before the festival began, creating a chaotic situation for security personnel. The police commander said these two events are not related to each other.
As we were arriving to the Astroworld Festival at NRG Park right at 2:00, a stampload through the plate. Passing the checkpoint. People were trampled. Som we were exhausted.
