The head of the country's disaster control service, Nikolay Nikolov, said that “45 or 46 people died in the accident, which took place about 2 o'clock on a 40km highway south of Sofia's capital.

The seven passengers were saved” and evacuated to a hospital in the capital, Nikolov said. They were two women and five men. Five children reportedly were among those who lost their lives in the accident.

The survivors are traumatized, the relatives lost, the children. They were thrown out of the” windows, said Maya Argruiova, director of the burning treatment centre where they were transported.

The bus, which was registered in northern Macedonia and was travelling from Istanbul to Skopje, has exploded in flames after it crashed.

While the cause of the accident at this stage cannot be determined.

The only thing that's obvious is that the bus had Macedonian license plates”, said incumbent Bulgarian Prime Minister Stefan Janev, who visited the scene and refused to provide details about the nationality of victims.

This is a tragedy. We don't know if all the victims are from Northern Macedonia, but suppose it could be something like that because the bus is registered in this country”, North Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said, writes Alsat-m.
