Publicist Veton Surroi has spoken on the subject of referendum and the response of two prime ministers, Edi Rama and Albin Kurti, who both responded that in a peaceful referendum, they would vote in favour of Kosovo joining Albania.
Surroi said that on the list of topics which remain relevant, the referendum issue will not live much longer as a topic, and that both Rama and Kurti have answered the question of referendum because the question has been asked.
The “People have responded because the question has been asked, but if the question hadn't been asked, they wouldn't mention it as topic”, Surroi said in Rubik in Klan Kosova.
On the other hand, he said that if the referendum issue were a priority, governments would be seated and would set the deadlines for the topic.
“If it were a priority, governments would have sat down and said that within this period we would organise the referendum, and within this time Kosovo must pass the Law on Referendum and change the Constitution”.
“Referendum should answer for a question and that question should be built on a structure of a constitutional law project and that constitutional project should be the product of a citizen consulting, political parties”, Surroi said.
Furthermore, Surroi said the capacity to generate questions that receive attention within the day is extraordinary, thus alluding to the question addressed to the two prime ministers for their vote in the referendum.
Our capacity to generate questions that receive attention within the day is extraordinary, and our capacity to focus on topics that become transformative is very small”, he said.
