The announcement of two Russian officials person-persons has proved that Kosovo is a pro-Western country, security experts say.

As far as it is concerned, the arrest of a former Kosovo Intelligence Agency employee with suspicions that he has uncovered classified information, experts say it is a clear massage for officials of this institution that they cannot breach the Constitution.

Security expert Besa Kabashi-Ramaj, in a statement on Online Economy, said various cases of spying occur in many powerful states.

She says recent events have highlighted that AKI has problems within the institution.

Until the case of the spying is isolated, and there's also a powerful state that even information flows into institutions of powerful countries. This only fact isn't enough to feel that we're safe, but this only fact is enough to make sense that we have room for improvement and maybe we have structural problems within certain institutions that should be addressed to prevent further flow”.

Kabashi-Ramaj says it is very important to know where that information is running and how much damage it does to Kosovo.

The “of course, of course, should be assessed what information is being translated, how valuable, how much it does to Kosovo and what the motive is. All of this helps you understand how at stake the country is and how lacking are operating processes within the” institutions.

On the other hand, she said AKI is the new institution and has to adapt to new standards and there is space to develop further.

“AKI is a relatively new institution, along with other security institutions, and it is an institution that is built with the help of the country's strategic partners, and that is very important because such standards have been adopted. While Kosovo has had successful terrorist acts prevention operations, such information is based on our partners”.

“AKI has an extraordinary role of risk and control of information within the country that could harm the country in any respect, and what indicates that there is room for growth, especially the fact that in Kosovo there are many incidents where foreign agents have operated”.

For the end, it stressed the importance of NATO membership.

The public security in the entire Western Balkans is extraordinary, but as far as human and national security is concerned, it is not enough to have a magnificent army like KSF, protecting the country and national security has more to do with a triangle between good neighbourly relations and alliance integration such as NATO<1>.

Institute for Confirmation of Interethnic Relations Chairman Fatmir Sheholli, in a conversation with Online Economy, said recent events have proved that Kosovo is a pro-Western state and does not allow Russian influence in the country.

The first “question, where the proclamation of two Russian diplomats as non-grats from the country's institutions is a very good sign that the state of Kosovo is in the hands of all issues that are in conflict with the Constitution of Kosovo, and this is a positive step in the concept of what we are proving to be really a pro-Western state and we will not allow the Russian influence to have an impact on our institutions too”

“As for Russian diplomats who declare the non-grata has very powerful reasons, as they have created and engaged issues that have come into conflict with our laws and regionally have claimed that some projects to strengthen in Kosovo, and it is good that our country has come to this data. But even our institute has made a contribution for this issue to be revealed”, he said.

In addition, Sheholli said that even the arrest of a former AKI member is a clear message to all officials in this institution that they cannot evade the law.

On the other hand, this has to do with the aspect of national security and the arrest of a former AKI member is good, too, because those who are members of intelligence should know that they are subject to law and Constitution in the country. It is good to leave justice because it is a sensitive subject, and I hope that these events never happen, especially in such a sensitive institution”.

Among other things, he says politicisation at an institution such as AKI should not happen, since it affects the general national concept.

“AKI is not the first case that happened, since we had a few years ago, even a murder of a worker there. But I think these cases are isolated and there's no way that there are issues that can operate in the general national concept and it's good that are discovered. All citizens should have faith in this institution and I would like to give a message to political persons, especially, away from politicisation because it sends us to whether it's a loan or not.”
