Who is Rifat Latifi, the new minister of health?

Prime Minister Albin Kurti today named Dr. Rifat Latif at the head of the Health Ministry.

But who is Latif?

Rifat Latifi was born in Klodernica in Scikyright in 1955.

The primary school was completed in Turicec, while the high school of medicine “Ali Sokoli” in Pristina.

In 1982 he completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina, and that same year he migrated to the United States.

He first settled in Houston, where he worked in scientific research.

The surgery began at Cleveland Clinic, then continued at Yale University, while the second specialization in general trauma and intensive care took place in New York, College of Medicine.

The university professor became a professor after 5 years of completing specialization and held many academic and organisational positions of importance in world medicine.

During his career, he worked at universities and prestigious hospital centers across America, like Texas, Philadelphia, New York, Doha.

Currently, he is a professor of surgery and president of the College of American Surgeons for the state of Arizona.

Prof. Dr. Rifat Latifi is the creator and implementer of the Telemedicine Programme in Kosovo and Albania, this programme funded by USAID.

It's the prestigious prize laureate given by “IDG's Computerworld Honors Program”, in 2011.

Prof. Latif has published several books on medicine (surgeon, nutrition, laparascope, and telemedicine) and is author of over 130 scientific articles.

He has specialised in General Surgery, a year at Cleveland Clinic, and then at Yale University, both of these institutions, of the best in the medical world.

After specialisations, he goes to Richmond, Virginia for a short time, but he'll be finished in Tucson, Arizona.

Today, he works as a professor of surgery at the University of Arizona.

Rifat Latifi, M.D. , FACS, FICS, worked more committed to reaffirming Albanian health.

His contribution is great in establishing the telemedicine service in Kosovo and Albania.

As an expert on surgery, except at various American universities, he worked for a while in Qatar and other world countries.

At the centres where he worked, he also engaged in the education of Albanian doctors.
