Asked what Albania has relations with its surrounding countries, the Albanian prime minister responded by stressing the need for recognition of Kosovo by Serbia.
Our “Relations have never been better, of course problems remain such as recognising Kosovo from Serbia, but I think there is a chance of building a common road. Then it is up to us whether we succeed or want to fall into the traps of the past”, Rama said.
In the question of whether to realise the “Open Balkans with the involvement of Kosovo and other countries in it, Rama said they are working to achieve this.
“We are working on this, but, as I said, it depends only on us”, Rama said.
Rama has gone to Italy, along with half of the Albanian government. He started the day at Palazzo Chigi, where he said he had “privilege” to meet his counterpart Mario Draghi, “a character as he said he had come from the best pages of European political history”, to end later with the meeting of the Joint Co-operation Committee between Italy and Albania, attended by Italian Foreign Minister Louis Di Maio.
