The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, through this statement, expresses the institutional position not to participate in the task force appointed by the Justice Ministry for drafting and finalising legislation for the Veting process in the justice system.
This stance, according to the Prosecutorial Council, comes as a result of the justice ministry's approach, which has prosecuted the final draft of the property process in Government without consulting independent justice institutions at all.
Moreover, this concept-document delivered to Government was not given to members of the working group from the prosecutorial system who are unaware of the final content of this document.
So this unilateral and exclusive approach by the Justice Ministry for us is non-professional.
In such important processes it is essential to have active inclusion of all sides, to build mutual trust and to cultivate a constructive approach, without prejudice, based on objective and co-ordination.
The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council as a constitutional institution remains committed to co-operating with international partners and the country's institutions that through strengthening internal institutional capacities, work on advancing the prosecutorial system, always maintaining independence and division of powers”.
