Prizren's new chairman, Sacir Totaj

In the first round of elections held on 17 October, the candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) for the first one in Prizren, Shaqir Totaj had 31.36 per cent of the vote -- less than his counter-Candidate by Vetevendosje, Mytaher Haskuka.

But on Sunday, November 14th, Totaj secured victory for the first of Prizren's municipality.

It in the second round won the trust of 27 thousand and 17 (51,01%) citizens. While Haskuka received 25 thousand of 942 or 48.99 per cent of the vote.

We remember that Totaj was in the run with Haskuka even in the 2017 local elections, where in the first round he had won 19 thousand 869 or 29,75% of the vote, while his counter-Candidate had 14 thousand of 967 or 22,41 per cent of the vote.

But in the second round, Haskuka was out first. He won 25 thousand of 949 or 50,36 per cent of the vote, while Totaj, 25 thousand 577 or 49,64 per cent.

Totaj has been an active part of politics since 2017.

He is married to Flutra and has two children, Elena and Adonis.

He has conducted elementary school and high school in Prizren. Totaj has graduated from the University of Pristina, as well as postdiplomatic studies from Washington University on management and Executive Leadership floor in the public sector. The one from TADAT, the IMF's special programme in Washington, DC, has been certified as international tax administration performance expert.

Shacir Totaj was engaged in establishing new institutions after the war, where he had started working in ATK, where he had held various managerial positions, as regional office manager in Prizren and Peja, manager of the Directorate of Large Taxpayers in Pristina.

Totaj for eight years has led the basketball club “Bashim” in Prizren. For two mandates he served as deputy chairman of the Kosovo Basketball Federation.
