At least five people lost their lives and 40 others were injured after a vehicle broke into a US parade crowd.

International media report that the SUV red car was passed through the Christmas parade in the town of Waukesa, west of Milwaukee.

Police chief Dan Thompson said the attack struck dozens of people, including children.
