The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, simultaneously supreme commander of the Kosovo Security Forces, has appointed Major General Union Yasar the new commander of the Kosovo Security Force, in line with constitutional competencies.
The appointment is made as envisioned in the Law for the KSF, following the defence minister's proposal and the recommendation of the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo.
Prior to the appointment of the new KSF commander, the president of the Republic of Kosovo, based on legal provisions, has decreed the release from office of the current KSF commander, Lieutenant General Nundman Rama, after submitting his resignation.
