In local elections, which were held on 17 October, the number of invalid ballots has marked a decline, compared to the same local elections in 2017.
This has been disclosed by CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, who has said that the lowest number of invalid ballots has been marked in both types of elections.
According to Elez in the municipal election, the number of invalid ballots is about 13 thousand and 100, while there are about 56 thousand and 200 of them in them for the Communist countries.
In these statistics, the CEC has not included ballots that voters have left empty when they are thrown into the voting box.
“Based on statistics from the announcement of final results, the number of invalid ballots in the Municipal Assembly for Headships is 13 thousand or 1.61%, while this figure is higher in the Elections for Municipal Places. Without counting blank ballotes, according to the data, there are about 56 thousand and 200, or 6.91%, invalid ballots throughout Kosovo in the Elections for Municipal Replacements”, Elesi told EO.
According to him, if this data is compared to the 2017 local elections, it is noted that the number of invalid ballots is lower in the October 17th election.
If we compare this data to the local preliminary elections of 2017, then we note that in these elections we have the lowest number of invalid ballotings in the Communist Speakers' Elections and also in the Elections for Municipal Places”.
In 2017, without calculating empty balloting, the number of invalid ballotings in the Municipal Speakers' Elections has been 13 thousand 814 ballot papers or 1.65%. While, in the Elections for Municipal Places this number has been 66 thousand 151 or 7.97%”, he said.
According to him, the CEC still does not have a report through which the reasons and nature of the unworthiness of balloting would become known.
“After any election process, the Central Election Commission analyzes various aspects and in this direction does analysis of invalid ballotings to enumerate the reasons and nature of the inadequacy of these”.
“From past election processes, while analyzing invalid election ballots for the Speaker or Vice President, we have noted cases when more than one candidate or more of a political subject was voted on; deliberate ballot damage; incomplete balloting or even valid ballots, but have been declared as invalid by the polling council”, Elesi reported.
On Wednesday, the Central Election Commission has announced the final results of local elections for 38 Municipal Framework. The deadline for submitting complaints to PZAP expires on Thursday afternoon.
